Teodora’s Book Reviews: “Brave” by Disney

I was brave enough to see the movie... But I was indeed very happy when my Godmother brought me the book of the film from London! :)
This story is about a Scottish princess named Merida. She lives, of course, in Scotland with her father, King Fergus, her mother, Queen Elinor, and her brothers (the triplets), Hamish, Hubert and Harris.

Merida has been preparing for her whole life to become a princess. (“A princess enjoys elegant pursuits. A princess does not laugh, giggle or chortle; she laughs with her eyes. A princess must be knowledgeable about her kingdom; she doesn’t doodle. A princess never gloats. A princess rises early. A princess doesn’t stuff her gob. A princess is compassionate. Patient. Cautious! Clean. And above all, a princess strikes for... well, perfection!”) Elinor taught her everything a princess has to know. But Merida doesn’t want to be a princess... She wants her freedom... But she has no choice. The three clans

(MacGuffin,

Dingwall

and Macintosh)

have already presented their sons as suitors for the marriage.
Merida can’t stand something like this! She wants to change her mom... Quickly! (“I want my freedom!”)

With the help of the wisps (which lead you to your fate), Merida meets a witch.

The witch gives her cake that would change the queen.
The spell is wrong. The queen transforms into... a bear!!! (“Here’s what I forgot to mention, lass. Your spell will become permanent at the end of the second sunrise... unless you remember these words: Fate be changed, look inside, mend the bond torn by pride!”) Merida has to sew the tapestry.

But, in the meantime, she has to explain to Fergus that Elinor-Bear isn’t Mor’du, the demon bear... (“It’s your wife, Elinor! It’s not Mor’du!” “Mor’du or not, I will avenge your mother!”)

In the end, everything turns out just fine! :)
This story is about love and choosing your own fate... I liked the book very much and the Scottish accent is cool! Are you brave enough to watch the film and read the book?

P.S. I wish I could get the Merida doll, too... :)
