Teodora’s Book Reviews: “Sterling and the Canary” by Andy Stanton

“Sterling and the Canary”... You might think it’s not an interesting title, but you’re wrong! I liked this story very much! I guarantee you will like it, too! Sterling Thaxton is the main character of the story. He’s the best-looking boy in his school. He’s tall and strong. He’s amazing at sports. He can kick a football so high that when it comes back down it has a suntan. He can run faster than all the other kids, even if they are on bikes. To keep long story short, Sterling is the coolest boy in the school! One day, a new girl arrives at Sterling’s school. Her name is Lizzie Harris. Her hair is the color of magic. Her nose is as sweet as music. Her arms are as wonderful as rainbows. Sterling falls in love with her and wants to ask her out: “Hello,” said Sterling. “What’s your name?” “Lizzie Harris,” said the new girl. Up close she was even prettier. (...) “That’s a nice name,” said Sterling. “I’m Sterling Thaxton. Will you go out with me?” “Let’s see,” said Lizzie. “You’re very ...

Teodora’s Book Reviews: “Hooey Higgins Goes for Gold” by Steve Voake

If you want to be a champion at the Olympic games one day, then you will have to eat... Greek food! Why? Ask Mr. Papadopoulos: “The thing is, Mr. Papadopoulos,” said Hooey, ignoring Twig, “you’ve eaten Greek food all your life, haven’t you?” “Why eat anything else?” asked Mr. Papadopoulos, scrunching the fingers of his right hand together and kissing the tips. “It is the food of champions !” (page 68) You know that the first Olympic games took place in Greece... Hooey Higgins is the main character of the story. At school, his teacher, Miss Troutson, gives some exciting news: “Mr. Papadopoulos, the manager of the local Greek restaurant, has agreed to sponsor some special Olympic events at next week’s Sports Day.” (...) To gasps of amazement, Miss Troutson held up a blue and white ribbon with a gold medal dangling from the end of it. (...) “It says: WINNER OF THE SHRIMPTON-ON-SEA GAMES .” (pages 15-17) Twig, Hooey's best friend, wants to participate. He wants to show everyone tha...

Teodora’s Book Reviews: “Grk and the Hot Dog Trail” by Joshua Doder

Everyone knows that New York is also called the Big Apple. But for Timothy Malt, the main character of the story, New York is sausage city. Why? That’s a good question and you will soon find out the answer... Timothy (or Tim, for short) is from London, England. He goes to New York for a short holiday: “In the afternoon, a Boeing 747 had eased out of the blue sky and roared along the Atlantic coast of the USA. It flew down the length of Long Island, landed at JFK and disgorged two hundred and twenty-one passengers. (...) But we are not interested in any of them. (...) We are only interested in six of the passengers on that 747. Two adults, three children and one dog. Their names were Mr. Malt, Mrs. Malt, Timothy Malt, Max Raffifi, Natascha Raffifi and Grk.” (page 8) Tim thinks that this holiday will be an ordinary one. But he’s wrong... One day, he goes to the grand opening of the new Slavic Art exhibition at the National Museum. The director of the National Museum tells the guests...

Teodora’s Book Reviews: “The London Eye Mystery” by Siobhan Dowd

London Eye is like a giant bicycle wheel in the sky. At least that’s what Ted thinks... For other people London Eye is just the largest observation wheel ever built with thirty-two capsules. But Ted is different. He thinks different, acts different... He’s also the hero of the story! Ted lives in London with his parents and his older sister, Kat. Ted wants to be a meteorologist one day. He likes weather more than anything! Kat is the opposite of him. The weather doesn’t seem so fascinating for her and she isn’t as smart as her brother. This is what Ted thinks of his sister: “She slammed the door in my face. I saw her silhouette go down the path. I slumped to the hall carpet and a feeling like molten magma churned in my belly. My foot banged up against the skirting board, my hand shook itself out and my brain went into a whirling vortex of bad feelings. Katastrophe . Kataclysm . Katalogue of Disasters . Hurricane Katrina . Mean, mad, mad, mean Kat.” (pages 188-189) Aunt Gloria, the...

Dupa cum v-ati dat seama, Australian Open are loc in Australia, iar US Open in Statele Unite ale Americii. :) In muzeu erau multe lucruri interesante.

Este o poveste interesanta, care te tine in suspans in fiecare capitol! In curand am sa-i scriu un book review. :)

Jurnal de calatorie – The Royal Parks

The Royal Parks! :) Aceste parcuri apartin familiei regale. Insa, in The Royal Parks, totul este linistit! Regent’s Park In Regent...

:) In Notting Hill totul este viu colorat! :) Am devenit detectiv si am fumat o pipa...
