Christmas was coming soon in Chipping Cheddar. Angelina was counting the snowflakes in her room. She was so happy that Christmas was very close! She will get wonderful presents and many guests will come to her house!
Angelina didn’t realise when the snowflakes stopped falling...She had an idea in her mind, a really wonderful idea...Angelina was surprised when the telephone rang. “I will answer it!” Angelina shouted, going downstairs to reach the telephone. “Oh, hi, Alice! Meet in the park? Of course, it will be great! Okay, see you there!” Angelina said and then she rushed in her room to get her coat, her gloves and her scarf. “Bye, mom, I’m going in the park with Alice!” Angelina said. “All right, dear, have fun outside!” Mrs. Mouseling said while she was feeding Polly.
In the park, Angelina and Alice had a great time! They had a snowball fight, they built a snowman, they skated on the iced pond and played hide-and-seek. After those things, Angelina said to Alice: “You know, Alice, I was thinking. Miss Lilly is doing a hard work teaching us ballet and to show her our appreciation, we could make a Christmas Ballet Show!”. “What a splendid idea, Angelina! We’ll need lots of ballet dancers!” Alice said. “Don’t worry, we have William, Flora, Felicity, Gracie and Vici!” Angelina said. “But where we could have our show?” Alice asked. “At the theater, of course!” Angelina said. “But Miss Lilly stays many times over there. She could see our stage and costumes!” Alice said, worried. “That’s a good point!” Angelina said, thinking. “I know! We could make this ballet show in my big garden! My dad is a wonderful constructer and I’m sure that he will build a wonderful stage!” she continued. “Splendid idea, Angelina! You are really smart! Come on, let’s tell the others about your idea!” Alice said..
When William, Flora, Felicity, Gracie and Vici heard Angelina’s idea, they agreed. “I’m sure that Miss Lilly will like our ballet show!” Flora said, dreaming about the wonderful stage, the sparkling costumes and Miss Lilly’s pretty smile...”If we want success, we must prepare and work hard!” William said. “William is right! Come on, everybody, let’s go to work!” Angelina said, smiling. She knew that her surprise will be perfect!...
Mr. Mouseling did a great job with the stage. Mrs. Mouseling made some sparkling costumes because Angelina decided that all of them are going to be snowflakes (except for her because she was going to be The Queen Of The Snowflakes).
One day, Angelina was practising with her friends the ballet show. Polly was looking at them and shouted every time: “Hurray!” with a very funny voice. Just then, Priscilla and Penelope Pinkpaws went by and saw the mouselings. “What on Earth are you doing here?” Priscilla asked with her nose in the air. Angelina hated them sooo much especially when they had their noses in the air (just like some bad princesses)...But Angelina smiled and said to the horrible twins: Oh, we practise for our ballet show! It’s for Miss Lilly!”. “On what occasion?” Penelope asked with a disgusting face. “To show her our appreciation for teaching us ballet!” Felicity said with a squeaky voice. “What a stupid idea!” Priscilla said. “You’re wrong! Miss Lilly will love our ballet show!” Gracie said. “Okay, do what you want! But maybe Miss Lilly will not like your ballet show...” Penelope said with a tricky smile. “Why not? If we work hard, our ballet show will be a success!” Vici said. After that, the horrible Pinkpaws went away. They didn’t want to spend time with Angelina and the others!...
While Priscilla and Penelope were walking, they were thinking of a plan to ruin Angelina’s ballet show. “I know!” Priscilla shouted after some minutes of thinking. “We could make the costumes dirty, the stage painted horrible and...hmmmm, what else?”. “And get the nails out from the stage?” Penelope suggested. “WONDERFUL!” Priscilla shouted. “If we get out the nails out from the stage, it will fall...Oh, splendid, splendid, splendid, splendid!” Priscilla said with an evil laugh. “But, wait a second! If we get out the nails before the ballet show starts, it will fall, right? And I was thinking: wouldn’t be much better if we do this while Angelina and the others are dancing?” Penelope asked. “Oh, yes, it will be much better! But how can we do this? They will see us!...” Priscilla said, disappointed. Priscilla started to think again. “Hey, Priscilla, do you remember mom’s vanishing cream?” Penelope asked. “Yes, I do. Why are you asking?” Priscilla asked. “Well, we could use it to be invisible! Then Angelina, Alice, William, Flora, Felicity, Gracie and Vici will not see us when we get out the nails!” Penelope said. “Well done, Penelope! I’m glad to have a sister just like you!” Priscilla said, hugging Penelope. Now Priscilla and Penelope were ready for their evil plan...
After four days, Angelina and her friends were prepared for the ballet. Mrs. Mouseling took Miss Lilly with her car. When they arrived, Mrs. Mouseling said to Miss Lilly to wait in the garden for a minute. Angelina’s mom went to the other side of the garden to see if the ballet dancers were ready. When she got there, Mrs. Mouseling was horrified! All the costumes were dirty with red paint. “What happened here, Angelina?” Mrs. Mouseling asked. “I don’t know, mom!...” Angelina said with a sad voice. “Oh, never mind! I’m sure Miss Lilly will not mind this thing! Now come on, she is waiting for us.
Miss Lilly didn’t mind the dirty costumes. In fact, she was very happy because Angelina and her friends wanted to make a really nice surprise for her! But when Angelina and the others started to dance on the stage, trouble began...Suddenly, the stage was full of different colors and then...after some minutes, the stage fell. Everything was RUINED! Angelina couldn’t speak anymore...”How...how did this happen?” she asked. “Who has done that?” Alice said. “But how? We should seen who made all of these things!...” William said. “William is right!” Flora said. “Look over there! Is it a message?” Felicity asked, pointing to a piece of paper. Angelina took the paper and read: “P.P and P.P? What does it mean?”. “Priscilla Pinkpaws and Penelope Pinkpaws!” Gracie shouted. “Oh, my gosh! Did they do this?” Vici asked. “YES!!! Ooooh, when I’m going to get those HORRIBLE and STUPID twins, they will be sorry for what they did!!!” Angelina screamed. Then she started to cry. “Everything is a disaster! We wanted to make Miss Lilly happy and show her our appreciation for working hard to teach us ballet! And now...now...”, but Angelina couldn’t say anything at all. A lot of tears started to come out from her eyes. After a bush, Priscilla and Penelope were giggling. Their plan worked! Miss Lilly hugged Angelina and said to her: “Oh, my darlink, don’t cry! You already showed me your appreciation!”. “When?” Angelina asked, surprised. “Every day! When you and your friends work a lot and very good, it means to me that you appreciate to work with me! Now you understand?” Miss Lilly asked. “Yes...so, you don’t care of the ruined Christmas ballet show?” Angelina asked. “Not at all, my darlink, not at all. Now don’t be sad, everything is okay! And by the way, for Christmas, you must be happy, no?” Miss Lilly asked. Now Angelina was VERY happy! In fact, everyone was happy! They all cheered and clapped.
In the meantime, Priscilla and Penelope were angry! “The plan didn’t work? THE PLAN DIDN’T WORK???” Priscilla asked herself. “It seems that not...” Penelope said, unhappy. “Oh, never mind! Angelina is always making Miss Lilly happy!...Come on, Penelope, let’s go home...” Priscilla said and the two mouselings trugged home, sadly.
That day was one of the greatest days that Angelina ever had! Soon after that, evening came and her friends and Miss Lilly left. Angelina remained with Alice. “Hey, Angelina, can I tell you a riddle that I made?” Alice asked. “Go on!” Angelina said, looking at the bright stars on the sky. “Who comes with presents to the children who were being good/With a sleigh made of wood/And visits all the people in the neighborhood?” Alice said. “Do you know the answer, Angelina? Angelina?”. But Angelina wasn’t paying attention. She was too happy to think of something else!
The End
